Printing to the Copy Center printers in Windows

These instructions are for Windows and involves 2 parts.

Download and installing papercut software:

  1. If you are using Wi-Fi, make sure to install and connect using WiscVPN, instructions can be found here
  2. Click StartRun,(or press the Windows key and R at the same time) and type \\papercut.chem.wisc.edu\pcclient in the text area
  3. If you have the old software installed, go into the Uninstallers folder, drag the windows uninstaller to you desktop and run it as administrator. Otherwise, skip this step.
  4. Go into the folder named 'win' and double-click client-local-install
  5. Click through the next few menus to install the software
  6. You can log into the papercut client with your email username and password

Setting up print queues

  1. Note the print queue you would like to install.
    • pc-5550 for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 outside the copy center (normal paper)
    • pc-5550-11x17 for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 outside the copy center (11x17 paper)
    • pc-5550-8x14 for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 outside the copy center (8.5x14 paper)
    • pc-m651dn for the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise m651 in the copy center/
    • pc-p400-TAL for the  TA Office left printer
    • pc-p400-TAR for the  TA Office right printer
  2. Go to the start menu and click run again (or hit windows key + r) and type \\papercut.chem.wisc.edu
  3. For the M651 or the TA Office printers, drag and drop the appropriate folder from the Drivers folder to your desktop
  4. Double click on the printer you would like to install.
  5. When windows says no driver was found on the network, click ok.
  6. If you are installing the M651 or the TA Office printers, click have disk, then click browse and locate the folder on your desktop and click open.
  7. If you are installing the 5550, select any hp driver and click finish.
    1. Click on the start menu and select 'Devices and Printers'
    2. Right click on the 5550 icon and select 'Printer properties'
    3. Click on the advanced tab and select the option for new driver.
    4. Click Windows Update, and when it is finished scroll through the HP list for HP Color LaserJet 5550 PCL5 and click ok.
    5. Go through the dailog to install the driver and click finish and then apply.
