Printing to the Copy Center printers in Linux

Installing the Client

1. If you're using wifi, install and start wiscvpn using instructions here: http://www.doit.wisc.edu/network/vpn/

2. Create the folder path '/usr/local/papercut/client'

3. Open your file browser and type 'smb://papercut.chem.wisc.edu' into the address bar.

4. Copy all the files in the 'pcclient/linux/' folder into your newly created folder. You will need to make the 'pc-client-linux.sh' file executable.

5. In order to start the client when you want to print, open a terminal and run the command 'sh /usr/local/papercut/client/pc-client-linux.sh'.

Adding print queues

1. Open the printer manager on your system.

2. Select to add a new printer and choose to specify a manual URI. Set the connection to 'http://papercut.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/<printer name>'

To install the driver for the pc-m651dn, you will have to go to this site: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install_wizard/index.html and select the driver for the 'HP Color LaserJet Enterprise m651dn Printer'

Go through the installation process, and the driver will show up as 'HP Color Laserjet m651 Postscript'
